Identifying Healthy Food

The salvation of Christ is not only to give eternal life but understanding on how to live a long life filled with peace, joy, and health. You will receive the Holy Spirit who gives you understanding of His Commandments and the benefits of following Him. You will also learn the judgment of God, and how it distresses lives if you trespass upon them. Your good choice in following the Lord God heals both the soul and physical problems. He corrects your lifestyle, changes your diet, and alters your actions.

The Lord God knows people are so used to eating whatever looks good to their eyes or smells good. They eat food that's easy to get and costs less. They don’t care if it is made of unnatural ingredients, and contain preservatives. Consuming these types of food and drinks reminds me of Eve’s behavior. She ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil because it was pleasant to the eyes. Although, she knew it would kill her, she ate it anyway. Should we follow Eve’s way or Jesus Christ’s way?

Genesis 3:6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise.

We should be aware of the history of foods that destroy life. Foods containing chemicals has a role in almost every major chronic disease. People get all kinds of diseases for lack of nutrients in the body, and because our nature, including the ground, water, sunlight, and air supplies, is depleted of its nutritional values. Our produce is stripped of vitamins and minerals. We drink juices and eat foods that contain preservatives to maintain the taste and increase shelf life. If you only obey your thirst and also eat the wrong types of food, it will eventually destroy your body which is the temple of God. If you want to live long, please start changing your diet.

Read the food commandments in books of Genesis 1:29, Genesis 9:3-5, and Leviticus 11. These are the foods of Israelites, and for the Gentiles converted into spiritual Israelites, Christians. Naturally grown food that have seeds are the only ones that we can eat, outside of it are not good for us. When you go to supermarkets and restaurants, always remember the food commandments, whether the food you are eating came from the sea, the river, or the ground. Since your body came from the ground, it looks for nutrients with the same components. Also, your spirit looks for the food that the Lord God commanded.

Choose only food and drinks that bring life and health to your physical and spiritual self. Eat unprocessed food and drinks free from all chemicals preservatives. The Lord God already processed it through nature to make it pure and ready for man to eat. Organic or natural produce and such as ready-to-eat products as frozen food, grains, and bread may cost more. The farmers puts more work into these foods, yet are often unable to produce much. They charge more, yet profits less. Organic, natural foods, which have no chemical process involved, don't last long on the grocery store shelves.

I feel that homemade is the best way to prepare food. You can control all the ingredients for yourself and your family's health needs. However, if you go out to eat, choose grilled food and less salt, butter, dressing, and cheese. If possible, abstain from all condiments in your diet, because they will give you a perverted taste of the food. They will increase your appetite. Concentrate more on the vegetables in the salad than on the dressing. Your body cannot handle too much fat or digest too much food at once. This internal stress will affect your looks and cause aging and weight gain.

In this time of age, many restaurants are just around the corner and responsibilities at work and home can place our health in jeopardy. People don’t often have the time to cook healthy meals. They depend on "instant or fast food" to satisfy their hunger which is not the wisest thing to do. Esau was another example in the Holy Bible who fell into sin. He sold his birthright for food to his brother Jacob, because he was lazy to prepare his food. If you follow him, you are going to miss the blessings of life and health that God has given to all of us. The Lord Jesus showed us that cooking the simplest way is the best way to cook our food. He grilled fish and baked bread for His disciples. If we follow God’s way to cook our food, His righteousness, follow the rest of God’s commandments, and you also watch the result of every food you eat ( if you notice a change of your looks, weight gain, and sleeplessness, then it is not good for you), we can assure our bodies would be in the healthiest state. Discipline yourself and your children to eat food that leads to a healthy, youthful, and long life. Be the master of your body by controlling the will of it. Taking care of our health by eating righteous food is following the commandments of God.
